Frequently Asked Questions
|
| With over three decades of fishing experience and gaining knowledge in the craftsmanship of Rod Building and Blank Dezign, Eric Grell has taken an opportunity that presented itself and dezigned the "Egrell" range of Blanks, exclusively to his own recipe, creating a genuine range of specifically crafted Rodz for the Australian Anglers who, like Eric, enjoy quality in their fishing experience. |

What is different about our Blanks?
Our Blanks are all made from graphite material with a carbon helix core. What makes them different is Eric Grell's exclusively dezigned High Modulus Casting Tip, which has been proven to generate a flatter more accurate cast, creating more distance overall. Each blank is dezigned around a specific application and each individual rod reflects this in it's performance.

What is meant by a Carbon Helix Core?
A Carbon Helix Core is made of many fine carbon fibres that are cross wrapped along the length of a mandrel for added hoop strength. The Mandrel is a tapered steel bar in which the material is wrapped around to form the Blank.

Why is Blank Dezign so important?
The Blank is the foundation to performance. Every millimeter along a blank can alter its action. Using more or less material alters where the working curve starts and finishes, it also alters where the guides are to be placed, to achieve the utmost in it's final performance. Combining this with years of experience and knowing where to make adjustments is what keeps us at the cutting edge of technology.

What is the Benefit of Full Contact Cork Grips?
Simply put, it allows the Angler to get the feedback required to the most sensitive area of the hand, which is the heel of the palm, not the figertips as people might think...Fingertips can become calloused and rough making them far less sensitive than the softer more sensitive area of the outer edges of the palm, so a Full Contact Cork Grip was shaped and ergonomically Dezigned to accomodate this need.

Why are certain guides reversed?
Certain guides are reversed for the purpose of reducing line violence which occurs during a cast. Line violence was first discovered by the Japanese many years ago, but after the testing of this theory on his own personal rodz way back when, Eric Grell also discovered that reversing certain guides not only reduced line violence but it also had a significant impact on the casting ability of the rod, especially, in situations such as casting into the wind. So he has done it ever since.

What is the difference between the Egrell range and "The BeaR" range?
The Egrell Range is of High Modulus Graphite that uses MRT(Modulus Replacement Technology), while "The BeaR" range is of an Intermediate Modulus Graphite. They both have carbon Helix Scrims to give them extra hoop strength and both have the exclusive "Egrell Casting Tip".
The Egrell range is dezigned with the idea of taking technology to it's limits to give the utmost in sensitivity and performance. Where "The BeaR" Range has been dezigned to be a little more forgiving while still using a full graphite material. The two ranges each have their own benefits and features, with every rod being built to a high standard of quality for maximum performance.

How are we able to keep up with new technology?
As we are in direct contact with the Blank manufacturer that builds our exclusive range, we have the ability to make any changes that are needed. We constantly listen to the feedback of Australian Anglers and combine it with our own research to extend our knowledge, which gives us our overall feedback to do anything necessary to improve our Rodz. As with any changes that we do to our Rodz, it is only applied after extensive research, creating the best in both quality and performance.
